Nestled in the foothills of North Carolina lies a delightfully Southern vineyard and winery, located on farmland that has been nurtured by the Myers family for 10 generations. With the dream of preserving the family farm for future generations, Benny and Kim Myers planted their first grapes over 13 years ago and converted the old milking parlor into a tasting room. Named for the Myers’ two children, Ashley Laurel and Taylor Gray, Laurel Gray Vineyards’ award-winning wines are sold exclusively in the tasting room and on our website.
Ben and Kim Myers chose to invest in developing an award-winning vineyard which would produce international GOLD medal wines. With 90% of our wines being estate-grown and bottled, we sell primarily at our vineyard-located tasting room or through our online store.
Laurel Gray Vineyards produces handcrafted Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Viognier, Pinot Gris and many more specialty blends. In 2010 Laurel Gray released the first in a series of holiday wines called “Carolina Christmas.” Total yearly production varies from 1800 to 2500 cases depending on the year. Check out the Our Wines page for a virtual tasting of our award-winning wines!
Stephen Rigby joined our team at Laurel Gray as head winemaker on July 1st, 2015. Born in Mississippi, Stephen received his degree from Mississippi State University in 1977. His first job was working at the Enology (winemaking) Laboratory at the University. After two years, Stephen decided to hone his skills in the up-and-coming Virginia wine industry. After spending 18 years just north of the border, Stephen came south into North Carolina. He was instrumental in developing award-winning wine which helped catapult the new Yadkin Valley and Swan Creek AVA wine regions into popularity. Soon these wines could be found on the tables of wine drinkers across the country. At Laurel Gray we feel very fortunate to have the knowledge and experience of Stephen Rigby on our team. We are excited about what the future holds with Stephen guiding our way for both our companies, Laurel Gray Vineyards and Yadkin Valley Wine Company.
