Acoustic Americana / Folk-Blues

“Sturdy stock. The blood in these veins is high grade red dirt, stirred by ancient New River water, near Lead Mine Road, VA Rural Route 693. Not much Barbie Doll here. That pretty much sums up this music too… tunes chosen by a journeying woman crossed over the half-century mark. This is a soulful, sometimes rough-edged authentic sound in tunes I have written or covers I wish I had written. Collectively, they paint an American experience in a smart, funny and entertaining performance. Savvy writing and harmony are my passion. To that end, I have the good fortune to collaborate with some of the finest musicians in our region. Find Fourth Creek Band for more info on current collaborations.

As with many, music is my drug of choice. I was the youngest of five during that inspiring time when my older brother’s music simmered up off the vinyl in the downstairs living room, streaming harmonies and well crafted lyrics and guitar licks up the hallway and into my room. Peter Paul and Mary, Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Harry Chapin, The Doors, Linda Rohnstadt, Don Williams, and my Dad’s favorite: Rhapsody in Blue (and the poetry of The Raven!). Occasionally, I got to sing harmony with both brothers and was forever thereafter ruined. That is a feeling and a sound I will seek out for the rest of my life!
A Mooresville, NC area resident for over 25 years, I suppose this is home now. Somehow that seems blasphemous to say when I’m reminded of the raw beauty of the place I grew up. But, for now, this IS home. I share my cozy house with one loving, lion-hearted and useful man, one big white princess dog with crazy Husky eyes and another trailer-trash pitt-mutt. My three handsome, smarter than average, awesome, nearly grown, no-longer-child-like children whom I love more than mudd are all out in the world now. I have a full-time day job with a printing company.”
